How Do They Work?

For the most part, suspension leveling kits change -- whether by replacing, adjusting or upgrading -- specific stock parts on the body and the frame of the truck or SUV. Air bags, polyurethane bump stops, and front-end custom-sized spacers are among the modifications that can achieve a more level lift.

The Advantages

There are many advantages to using leveling kits, such as increasing the clearance level of the tire well area in order to accommodate larger custom wheels. Additionally, leveling kits can improve your truck or SUV’s handling, as well as eliminate the sag caused by heavy loads, including winches and plows.

The Disadvantages

There are several disadvantages to suspension leveling kits, including the additional cost, since it is not a stock item. Additionally, as with any change to a truck or SUV's stock design, there may be some increased safety issues. To reduce the risks, only allow a certified mechanic to install your suspension lift.
