Summary

The Ford Ranger is a compact pickup truck found throughout North America. It replaced the former Ford Courier in 1983. This compact pickup was modeled after its larger Ford truck brethren, and it is also the design of the Mazda B-Series trucks. The Ranger had been the No. 1 best-selling small pickup in America until 2005, when Toyota's Tacoma knocked it off the throne.

History

In the 1960s and 1970s, the name Ford Ranger was actually used for certain versions of the Ford F-Series. It wasn't until the 1983 lineup was introduced that what is today the Ford Ranger was sold.

Seating: The Ranger seats 3 passengers.

Gas Mileage: The 2.3L version of the truck gets 24 miles per gallon in the city and 29 miles per gallon on the highway. The 3.0L and 4.0L V-6 Rangers get 17 miles per gallon in the city and 22 on the highway.

Safety Rating: The Ford Ranger gets a 4 out of 5 star rating for frontal impact collisions for driver's side and passenger's side. It received a maximum rating of 5 stars for side impact, but 3 out of 5 stars for rollover.

Price: The 2006 Ford Ranger has a MSRP starting at $15,440.

Warranty
